Sony KDL-VE5 series
The current fad in the world of televisions is green electronics or the eco friendly TV. Sony ‘s KDL-VE5 series has introduced a twist by introducing its new presence sensor. The sensor can sense when there is no one watching the TV and automatically switches off if that is the case. In addition it can also reduce backlight brightness to reduce power using an environment light sensor. With these and other features this series is able to reduce consumption of power by 40% compared to other TV sets of this type. Though Sony generally tends to provide stylish sets, this series is an exception. The design is quite conventional with a squared panel. The silver speaker at the bottom helps to achieve a two toned effect and is emphasized by a reflective strip that runs on top of it. The remote is smaller and more comfortable to use than previous models. The problem with the remote is that there is no button for the power save features. They can be accessed only using menus. Though the only main addition to the series is power saving, the cost has become a little too expensive. But maybe this is just a small price to pay to save our planet!!
